Happy Monday all!
I hope your weekend was a dandy! We had company in town and decided to show them a KC classic, the River Market Farmer’s Market in downtown Kansas City. Craig and I picked up some amazingly sweet peaches, grabbed some Bavarian cream and chocolate cheesecake stuffed beignets and ate until we had sugar comas. And yes, they are as delicious as they sound.
I’m excited to share our office transformation today! When we purchased our home the room off our living room was used as a playroom by the previous owner. We decided it would make a lot of sense to utilize it as our office.
Here’s the before (listing photo):
I had been drooling over pipe shelving on Pinterest for awhile and thought the inset in the office would be a perfect spot to put it. Craig had used an unfinished version in our garage organization. After I saw that he could make that work, I knew I wanted to bring a finished version inside our home!
Here’s how it turned out after:
Craig had made our rustic desk from a door we weren’t going to use in the basement. Genius idea! It was easy on the pocketbook and is a fantastic statement piece. We stained both the top of the desk and the shelving the same color: Minwax dark walnut. The wall color is Valspar Oatlands Subtle Taupe. No more pastel green!
It’s been fun finding and styling the shelves. We have a few flea market finds, Target, Ikea, Joss and Main and a few accessories we shopped from our own home. If you’ve never visited the jossandmain.com, WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR?! It’s a game changer. We got our office chair there. It’s always great to get a special piece you can’t always find in the store at a reasonable price.
One of Craig’s requests was to have a whiteboard where he can sketch out a few ideas. Ok, is he an adorable engineer or what? His wish was my command, the whiteboard works well in the space and I added a planter underneath to add interest. For now, the succulents are surviving. I know that everyone says they’re so easy, but I have had some bad luck in the past.
The curtains are actually shower curtains. I loved the detailed fabric and the fringe on the bottom too much to pass them up. Don’t hesitate to think outside of the box!
Have a wonderful week and let us know what you think of the shelving in the comments below!
